The Art of the Still Life

Goodness! Where did the year go? I did not write one single blog. Perhaps, like you, I had some ups and downs, joys and sorrows during this past year. I continued to counsel several days a week, spend many weekends at our cabin in north Georgia, worked on some art projects and began scanning pictures to design some “legacy” books about our family and… got a puppy. My husband and I had a wonderful trip to the Titans and Yellowstone Parks in May, and we were able to gather again for a family reunion in July. We have stayed healthy thus far by God’s grace, though we don’t presume on Him!

All in all, it has been a blessed year. We also learned we are expecting our first grandchild in June. So 2022 has some blessings on the way!

I did spend a good deal of time discerning the times around the virus, the vaccine, puzzling over what still feels at times like mixed messages. I also spent time studying Revelation with my Bible study partner. My prayer was that I might be able to come to some conclusions about present world events. I will not share them here, as I find so much of the issues very polarizing, and that is not my goal. My “Word” for last year was “watchful” and that is basically what all my “looking” and reading was about.

Now it feels time to put much of that aside and just be STILL. This is inner looking, seeking, prayerfully attending. It is a bit of a discipline as the media and my I-pad often call me to just “check in.” But it’s OK.

My Father is with me either way, but more so as I sit at His feet and learn from Him. Will you join me there?
